Contract Type – Permanent, Full time, 37.5 hours

Band – 6 (equivalent to NHS AfC Band 7)

About the roles

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Pharmacist to join our pharmacy team at The Wellington Hospital. We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic pharmacist with excellent clinical skills to develop, monitor and deliver on all aspects of clinical pharmacy.

 

You will be responsible for providing high quality comprehensive clinical pharmacy service to the medical and surgical teams working with some of the best consultants and clinicians promoting the best clinical and safe use of medicines within the hospital. This will include cardiology, cardiothoracic medicine, colorectal surgery, critical care, gastroenterology, gynaecology, hepatobiliary medicine, neurology, neurorehabilitation, oncology, orthopaedics and spinal surgery.

Main Duties

In this role, you will be rotating across the medical and surgical specialties and work in partnership with patients and colleagues to deliver outstanding pharmacy services. You will participate in daily MDT meetings, weekly ward rounds and provide specialist input and advice to our patients. You will assist with governance and quality improvement programmes for all aspects of medicines. You will develop yourself as an expert clinician and be involved in the training and development of pharmacy and other staff groups. In addition, you will gain management experience in leading the junior and specialist pharmacist teams.

 

Skills and experience

  • Master’s Degree in Pharmacy (or equivalent)
  • Registered with General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • Extensive relevant pharmacy experience including providing a clinical pharmacy service to a variety of specialties at an advanced level
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant post registration experience
  • Be enthusiastic with an ability to motivate yourself and team. Possess excellent communication, organisation and leadership skills and demonstrate good problem-solving skills.
